Aisling Conn’s 5 top tips to keep your body and mind energetic and focused during the festive holidays
15 December 2020
Aisling Conn, our Yoga and Pilates Resident Instructor, gives us her top tips for wellbeing over the festive season.
I have had the absolute pleasure of working with aparto this year, in providing online Yoga and Pilates classes to the aparto student residents. The aparto team’s enthusiasm and adaptability to this new way of supporting their student community has been a real inspiration to me.
To support you over the holidays, here are some useful and supportive top tips on keeping the mind and body focused during the festive holidays.
Keep to a routine
Try to keep to your normal routine as much as possible, if you are used to getting in 3k walking a day, make sure to squeeze it in somewhere, your body will thank you for it!
Being realistic
Don't overthink exercise or meditation. No need to commit to an hour of anything, 10mins of sitting quietly and noticing your breath or deciding to do 10 pushups or 5 sun salutations will fit nicely into your festive days no matter where you are.
Enjoy yourself
Don't feel guilty about eating the nice food or enjoying your favourite drink - enjoy it, savour it but just do not overdo it!
Self care
Drink plenty of water, get plenty of sleep.
Be kind
This may be a very strange holiday season for a lot of us. Be kind to yourself and others, connect to friends and loved ones by phone or over zoom or for outdoor walks and chats. Supporting each other is paramount now more than ever.
I look forward to seeing you all in 2021.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
