Lancaster is a city full of culture and character, with a vibrant array of cafes and bars and buzzing nightlife. You’ll never be stuck for something to do, whether it’s catching up with mates over a cup of carefully crafted coffee at Atkinsons or dancing the night away at the Student Union night club, the Sugarhouse.    

Eating and drinking

Have a taste of many cuisines with the fantastic mix of restaurants on offer across the city. Here are some of our picks:   The Herbarium Bar Cool vegetarian cafe serving smoothie bowls, pastries and cakes and even hosts yoga sessions.   Go Burrito When isn’t a good time for a burrito?! Fresh and tasty Mexican food and super close to Caton Court!   ALEX Great selection of fresh juices and smoothies to keep you hydrated and healthy.   Atkinson’s Coffee Cool coffee house in the town centre, great selection of coffee!   Blue Moon Modern dining room and a menu of Thai classics and lesser-known dishes, plus takeaway options.   Whale Tail Vegetarian dishes from local, organic and fair-trade produce in a simple cafe.   Nami Sushi Offers a delightful range of sushi options.  

Health & Wellbeing

There’s a range of activities that can help look after your mental and physical health and we will be running events onsite at Caton Court! Here’s some of the organisations we’re partnering with:     Temple Yoga Temple Yoga is based around different locations in Lancaster city centre. They offer a range of different classes to suit all abilities with a focus on mental and emotional wellbeing as well the physical benefits of yoga. We’ll be partnering with Temple yoga and offering some sessions as part of the experience programme!   Reset mind body and Soul Located just a stones throw away from Caton court, this health centre offers a range of services from massage therapy to float therapy. Great for de stressing when uni gets a bit hectic!    

Nightlife

Lancaster has loads of fun pubs and clubs to keep you entertained until the early hours! Check out a few suggestions below:     The Crafty Scholar Modern City Centre Bar offering excellent value Food and Drink with exciting nightlife!   The Cornerhouse A great venue to dine, drink and dance in the city centre.   The Study Room Popular bar and restaurant with food and drink deals.   The Borough Pub Doubles as a comedy club every Sunday.   The Bobbin Pub Live music, open mic night and quiz nights.   The Sugarhouse Run by Lancaster Student Union, one of the biggest nightclubs in Lancaster with a range of guest acts.   Dalton Rooms Choose from a range of club nights with a host of DJs and performers.  

Arts and culture

As a creative and unique city, Lancaster’s established arts scene constantly provides its student population with no end of cultural activities. From theatre shows to music festivals, there’s loads to get your cultural fix. For music lovers, Lancaster is home to a number of festivals, such as the Lancaster Music Festival and the Jazz Festival which create a fantastic lively atmosphere, filling the streets with live music and dance. There’s also great live music venues with gigs that cover all genres from jazz to folk and contemporary - so whatever your jam you're sure to find awesome gigs to go to.   There’s so much to get involved in the vibrant city of Lancaster.
